Fashion, crowds and winners light up Durban July at Greyville

Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse was packed with thousands of racegoers on Saturday as early favourites delivered on the track and the Hollywoodbets Durban July brought colour, fashion and excitement to Durban.

Tens of thousands of racegoers, bold fashion statements and early track winners turned Hollywoodbets Greyville into a festival of colour and excitement on Saturday for the Hollywoodbets Durban July, South Africa’s biggest horse racing event.

Ridden by champion jockey Richard Fourie and trained by Justin Snaith, the three-year-old Note To Self gelding secured the prestigious title at Hollywoodbets at Greyville Racecourse during the 2026 Hollywoodbets Durban July.

Clear skies and a buzzing atmosphere set the tone as the first races delivered expected results, with Sommerstern and Please Be True winning the opening two events on the Polytrack surface.

Sommerstern, trained by Lucinda Woodruff and ridden by Callan Murray, cruised to victory in Race 1 to loud cheers from the crowd.
