The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) urged the State government to immediately relieve teachers who were transferred during the June 2025 general teacher transfers but continue to work in their old schools due to the non-availability of relievers. In a statement on Saturday, APTF State president Chennupati Manjula and general secretary K. Basavalinga Rao said hundreds of teachers across the State were facing the problem. They pointed out that 233 teachers in Nellore district, 80 in Kadapa, and 25 in Guntur, besides many others in all districts, including Subject Teachers and Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs), were yet to be relieved. The APTF leaders said many of these teachers had completed eight, nine, or even more than 10 years of service in the same schools before securing transfers to their native or preferred places. Believing they would soon join their new postings, many shifted their families, enrolled their children in schools in the transferred locations, and made other necessary arrangements. However, due to the absence of relievers, they continue to work in their previous schools and have been living under severe mental stress for the past 14 months, hoping that they would be relieved at any time. The federation leaders said that the affected teachers had expected a solution to their woes during the recently conducted Minimum Time Scale (MTS) transfers, but no one opted for their schools, leaving them in the same situation. Even in the ongoing surplus teachers’ adjustment process, there is no guarantee that relievers will be posted to enable their release. They said that they had repeatedly appealed to the government, requesting the appointment of Academic Instructors to facilitate the immediate relief of these teachers, but no action had been taken so far.The APTF leaders expressed concern that, with cadre allocation to the newly-formed districts being carried out under the Presidential Orders–2025, many teachers fear that they may permanently remain in their old schools without ever getting an opportunity to join the schools to which they were officially transferred. They appealed to the government to ensure that teachers were allotted through the ongoing adjustment process and that all transferred teachers awaiting re were relieved immediately.
