Young loose forward Logan Welman continued her remarkable try-scoring record fro the Springbok Women, bagging a brace in the 34-21 win over the USA at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The Springbok Women recovered from a nervy opening few minutes to produce a dominant first-half display before withstanding a spirited USA comeback to claim a deserved 34-21 victory in their historic Test match at Ellis Park on Saturday.

A fierce defensive effort settled the early nerves before South Africa began playing on the front foot, with powerhouse centre Aphiwe Ngwevu repeatedly getting over the gainline. Fellow centre Ayanda Malinga was the first to capitalise, crossing in the fifth minute after lock Vainah Ubisi sliced through the visitors' defence with a superb break. Jakkie Cilliers added the conversion as the hosts took an early 7-0 lead in their first Test against the USA on home soil.

Winger Alichia Arries soon threatened with a powerful break of her own, whilst the Springbok Women began asserting themselves at the breakdown. A crucial turnover from Danelle Lochner set up sustained pressure, and from the resulting attack the USA struggled to contain South Africa's rolling maul before scrum-half Unam Tose crashed over in the 12th minute to extend the lead to 12-0.
