The Acropolis, typically crowded with thousands of daily tourists, is being reimagined as an exclusive, small-group cultural experience offered only during the quiet hours of dawn and sunset.

A new premium initiative known as “The Acropolis Experience” allows access to Greece’s most iconic monument outside regular visiting hours. Developed by the Ministry of Culture and the Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development, the program offers highly personalized guided tours designed for intimate groups of one to five visitors. The initiative aims to provide a more immersive encounter with the ancient site while generating significant revenue for its preservation.

Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, program director Angeliki Maragkaki noted that 2024 served as the project’s foundational pilot phase.

“It was a period of strict pilot operation, during which only eight targeted, personalized tours were deliberately conducted in order to test and optimize the experience in detail,” Maragkaki explained.

To build global awareness, the organization invested in an international promotional campaign. The strategy gained immediate traction, earning a feature in “Lürzer’s Archive,” a prestigious international advertising publication.
