Sir, – The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment Alan Dillon is barking up the wrong tree announcing a €100 increase in on-the-spot fines for dog fouling. It is no panacea, given the ridiculously low levels of fines issued in recent years. He adds that DNA testing for dog fouling is “within the realm of possibility”.
