The organisation noted that the controversy has exposed deep flaws in Nigeria's budgeting process.

A civic-tech organisation, BudgIT, has demanded an urgent independent criminal investigation into the N1.3 billion allocation to the “non-existent” Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), also referred to as the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC), headed by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi.

The organisation noted that the controversy has exposed deep flaws in Nigeria's budgeting process.

The civic-tech organisation made the demand on Friday, July 3, in a statement signed by its Country Director, Vahyala Kwaga, following the Presidency's insistence that the agency does not exist despite receiving N1,302,978,784 in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

The controversy erupted after the self-acclaimed Director-General of the PFIPC/PEAC, Adeyemi, alleged that he paid N400 million to President Bola Tinubu's Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to secure his appointment.
