In a circular dated July 3, 2026, and signed by the institution’s Systems Manager, Ahmed Abubakar, for the Bursar, the university informed members of staff that it had yet to receive the required cash backing from the Federal Government, making it impossible to process salary payments.
The management of the University of Maiduguri has attributed the delay in the payment of June 2026 salaries to the Nigerian government’s failure to provide cash backing, leaving lecturers and other workers without their monthly wages.
In a circular dated July 3, 2026, and signed by the institution’s Systems Manager, Ahmed Abubakar, for the Bursar, the university informed members of staff that it had yet to receive the required cash backing from the Federal Government, making it impossible to process salary payments.
“This is to inform all members of staff that the delay in payment of the June, 2026 Salary is due to none receipt of cash backing from the Federal Government,” the circular stated.
