A growing number of Nigerian celebrities have traded the spotlight for military service in the United States, with actors, actresses and beauty queens publicly announcing their enlistment in recent years.

The trend, which has become more noticeable since 2024, reflects a career shift driven by personal fulfilment, patriotism, financial security and the opportunities available through military service. The latest to join the list is Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu, who completed his U.S. Army Basic Combat Training in April 2026.
