The U.S. army has outlined the key eligibility requirements for individuals seeking to enlist, including rules on citizenship, age, education, medical fitness and aptitude testing.
While both U.S. citizens and certain non-citizens are eligible to serve, prospective recruits must meet strict conditions before they can join any branch of the Armed Forces.

According to the U.S. military, non-citizens cannot enlist unless they are lawful permanent residents of the United States.
