LEGAZPI CITY — A total of 57 municipalities in the Bicol region, two cities, and the island province of Catanduanes have been placed under the government’s Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) status after meeting the military’s criteria for areas considered free from insurgency.
Maj. Frank Roldan, chief of the Public Affairs Office of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division (9ID), told the Inquirer in a Viber message on Thursday (July 2) that the areas include Tabaco City in Albay, Sorsogon City, and all 11 municipalities of Catanduanes.

Roldan also said government forces neutralized 66 members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in the Bicol Region from January to July this year.FEATURED STORIES
