Amazon’s Prime Day sale will run between July 4 and July 6 for shoppers to splurge on household goods, electronics and several other everyday use items. However, this is also the time for delivery-based scams that are aimed at deceiving shoppers who collect their packages without carrying out their due diligence.Here are some common scams that Amazon shoppers have flagged in recent weeks, and what you can do to safeguard your finances.Fake COD ordersSeveral Amazon users have taken to social media platforms such as Reddit and X to share their experiences with Cash-on-Delivery scams. While the details differ, the approach appears to be similar for multiple targeted victims. The Amazon shopper is met by a purported delivery person who hands over a package and asks for a small, believable sum of money. Unable to confirm who in their household has bought the item, the victim usually pays the requested sum in order to accept the package and avoid the hassle of missing a delivery. Upon opening the package, they discover an unrelated item, or packed debris mimicking the weight of the item.
