Joey Chestnut is back. Joey Chestnut never left. Joey Chestnut runs things on the Fourth of July. We all just celebrate here.Sidelined for a season, the Chancellor of Chew (we’ll workshop it) returned in 2025 to guzzle down 70.5 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. It’s a mark that not only obliterated 2024 winner Patrick Bertoletti’s mark of 58, but surpassed Chestnut’s own efforts in 2023 (62) and 2022 (63). Now, the Grand Duke of Glizzys (still workshopping it) is pegged at 72.5, an ambitious line for the 42-year-old, whose career high of 76 was set in 2021.Chestnut is a monster masticator. He has won the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Championship 17 times, has 55 world records, and is generally considered the closest thing to a garbage disposal humanity has to offer. This competition is less about whether he can beat the field, and more about whether 72.5 dogs and buns are beyond the capacity of the Earl of Eat (nope, we are getting worse) at age 42.Chestnut is -2500 to win at FanDuel Sportsbook, and Bertoletti is the nearest challenger at 12-to-1 odds. Chestnut’s line goes from -127 at 70-plus hot dogs to +144 at 72 or more, which should make the under an absolute lock.
