On September 3, a Cathay Pacific jet holding a curious assortment of four-legged passengers will touch down in Hong Kong. The sound of clomping hooves will replace suitcase wheels as the guests descend from the belly of the plane. Fifty-four horses will sniff the air of new pastures, halfway around the world from their home.These are no ordinary steeds but stars of the upcoming production Cavalluna – Gate to the Otherworld, which combines advanced equestrian disciplines with music, dance and other artistic elements.Presented by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the event will be held at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Arena from September 8 to 13, 2026, to celebrate the Year of the Horse.Written, composed and directed by Klaus Hillebrecht and produced by Andreas Eckert, Gate to the Otherworld is an immersive experience and a celebration of the bond between horse and rider.A scene from Cavalluna – Gate to the Otherworld, which comes to Hong Kong in celebration of the Year of the Horse.
