Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther just did what every League of Legends player dreams about on the biggest possible stage. The G2 Esports mid laner secured a pentakill against LPL squad Top Esports during the bracket stage of the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational, eliminating all five opponents in a single teamfight sequence that instantly became one of the tournament’s defining moments.
For the uninitiated: a pentakill means one player personally takes down every member of the opposing team in rapid succession. It’s the League of Legends equivalent of a hat trick, a buzzer-beater three, and a walk-off grand slam rolled into one.
The play and what it means for G2’s tournament run
The pentakill came on or around July 1, 2026, during MSI’s bracket stage. G2 entered the bracket as a top seed from the LEC, Europe’s premier League of Legends league.
This wasn’t even Caps’ first pentakill of the season. He previously secured one on the champion Ahri back on April 18, 2026, during LEC play. Two pentakills in roughly two and a half months, with the second coming against elite international competition at MSI 2026.
