The National Revenue Agency (NRA) has uncovered 70 violations during the first three days of its summer inspection campaign along Bulgaria's Southern Black Sea coast, with the failure to issue fiscal receipts emerging as the most common offense. The campaign began on Monday, and by Wednesday inspectors had completed 240 checks at businesses operating in the region.
Speaking in Burgas, NRA Communications Director Anna Mitova said that 140 of the inspections were carried out within the jurisdiction of the Burgas Territorial Directorate, where inspectors identified 45 violations. On Thursday, revenue officers continued their work by visiting restaurants, kiosks, beach facilities, and businesses renting umbrellas and sun loungers in Burgas' Sea Garden.
Mitova said that inspectors had already established at least one case of a business failing to provide a receipt during the day's inspections, while noting that the operation was still ongoing. "At this point, we have identified one violation for not issuing a receipt, but the inspections are continuing and more information will be available in the coming days," she said.
According to the NRA, the two violations encountered most frequently so far involve businesses not issuing receipts and discrepancies between the amount of cash found in registers and the figures recorded by fiscal devices. "The most common violation is the failure to issue receipts. The other is a discrepancy between the cash register and what is marked on the fiscal device," Mitova explained.
