The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor. Fri Jul 03 2026 - 06:00 • 1 MIN READSir, – Niamh Byrne’s letter (July 1st) reminded me of a friend who had relocated to Ireland from Belgium. She stopped her car at a red light and was promptly run into by the car behind. The driver in the car behind asked her why she had stopped. She replied “because the light was red”. He then remonstrated with her stating, “sure, it had only just turned red”. – Yours, etc,STEPHEN YEO,18, Meadow View, Churchtown,Dublin 14.IN THIS SECTION
