Last month, I started reporting on BYD’s export sales, including a long-term bar chart on the matter. Now we have an update, and it’s big.
While BYD’s passenger vehicle sales outside of China rose 80% year over year in May, they did even better in June, rising a whopping 95% year over year. The company reached a record 175,349 sales abroad — yes, in one month alone. That was almost 15,000 more than the previous sales record, just set in May.
There are two ways to look at this. One can say that BYD is selling more and more vehicles abroad because its sales in China are way down and it’s desperate to move vehicles in other markets. Or one can just emphasize the fact that BYD’s sales network, service network, and factory footprint are all expanding considerably around the world, and the result is more and more sales every month.
Of course, we know that BYD’s electric vehicles have been shaking up and even transforming EV/auto markets wherever they go, due to the fabulous value for money offer BYD is providing.
