BYD has stopped its big 2026 sales slide. As we’ve written at length a few times now, low sales earlier in the year could have been strongly influenced by people waiting for new-generation vehicles from BYD with much better tech. Now that such vehicles are starting to arrive, surprise surprise, sales are up year over year.

Sure, they’re not up a ton, but they are up. As the title says, they rose 5% in June compared to June 2025 — technically, they rose 5.2%. Compared to the month before, May 2026, they rose 5.4%. The actual delivery figure was 397,292.

Splitting those sales out by powertrain, BYD had 201,472 BEV sales and 195,820 PHEV sales. Its BEV sales were down 2.6% year over year but up 1.4% month over month. The company’s PHEV sales, meanwhile, were up 14.7% year over year and up 9.8% month over month.

I expect we’ll see bigger sales increases in July. But stay tuned to see if that projection is correct or not.
