The Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Engr. Emmanuel Inyang, has disbursed N34 million in bursary grants to about 580 indigent students studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
A total of 100 postgraduate students under the scheme received N100,000 each, while 480 undergraduate students received N50,000 each to support their academic pursuits.
Speaking during the disbursement ceremony held at the Mkpat Enin Council Secretariat on Thursday, Inyang said the initiative formed part of his administration’s commitment to educational advancement as outlined in his Emancipation Blueprint, which, he noted, aligns with the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno.
He explained that the bursary programme was designed to ease the financial burden on students and their families while encouraging academic excellence among young people in the area.
