President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed hope that one of the key outcomes of the upcoming NATO Summit will be the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense system.

He made the statement in his evening video address, according to Ukrinform.

“In the coming days, there will be a NATO Summit and other formats, and this is exactly what should become one of the key outcomes: air defense. If, of course, NATO still means anything to the Allies. Europe must have its own sufficient capability to defend itself against all types of threats, including this one – Russian ballistic missiles. We have been discussing licenses for the production of Patriots with the U.S. Administration for a long time already,” he said.

Zelensky thanked countries that are assisting Ukraine through the PURL program, which allows the purchase of air defense missiles.

The President stressed that to reliably protect lives, it is necessary to establish the production of American anti-ballistic systems in Europe.
