Kyiv, July 2 (EFE).- A massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv killed at least 20 people on Thursday, Ukrainian authorities said, in one of the largest bombardments of recent months and another reminder of the difficulty Ukraine faces in intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 74 missiles and 496 drones during the overnight assault. Ukrainian defenses neutralized 476 drones and 48 missiles.
As in previous attacks, the interception rate for missiles was significantly lower than for drones because of the challenge posed by Russian ballistic weapons.
Of the 24 Iskander-M ballistic missiles fired by Russia, Ukraine said it shot down only four.
