American stadium and arena calendars are stocked with contemporary pop artists — “pop” in the broad, literal sense of the word — artists with sell-out potential. It’s quite rare, however, for any of those A-list acts to represent Punjabi folk music.
According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, Diljit Dosanjh has grossed $45 million and sold 317,000 tickets on the Aura World Tour. He just wrapped a run of shows in the United States and Canada, closing as the biggest North American leg of a tour by a Punjabi artist in Boxscore history.
