Foremen, experienced supervisors should ensure condition of semi-finished goods, says industrial safety officer

Foremen or experienced supervisors should close and open the doors of working sheds in fireworks units to get first-hand information of the condition of semi-finished goods, said Joint Director of Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health E. Velmurugan.Addressing a seminar on safety in fireworks units for workers of eight various units at Sevalpatti on Thursday, Mr. Velmurugan cautioned about the dangerous role of static electricity in causing accidents in chemical mixing and chemical filling rooms.During an interaction with the workers, Mr. Velmurugan explained about various stages of decomposition of chemical mixtures to the workers, especially those are directly handling chemicals, a statement said.
