Sukhaputra.He was addressing a meeting organised to introduce and explain about the new scheme that has come into effect from July 1 to the project employees and field staff at Panaiyur panchayat in Narikudi block on Thursday.Mr. Sukhaputra said that the new scheme has been brought to replace the MGNREGA scheme with certain changes to suit the present times.The number of working days has been increased to 125 days a year from 100 days in the past. The minimum wages too has been increased significantly, he added.The work would not be implemented during the farming period in order to avoid shortage of farm hands.The Collector said that the right to work would be selected for execution for providing jobs to the local people.The scheme has been formulated to ensure precision and transparency right from computer-aided uploading to field work.Works related to water conservation, desilting of irrigation tanks, and maintenance of rural roads and livelihood infrastructure would be taken up to create permanent asset for the rural areas.Block Development Officers and Project field staff were among those who were present.
