Cane crushing began at the co-operative sugar mill at Moongilthuraipattu near Kallakurichi on Thursday. It was formally inaugurated by Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare R. Vinoth.According to officials, about 4.75 lakh tonnes of sugarcane, cultivated on about 12,750 acres, was aimed to be crushed at the co-operative mill during the crushing period.Collector J.E.
