City of Tshwane Finance MMC and Deputy Mayor Eugene Modise.

The City of Tshwane’s Multiparty Coalition Government has launched a new digital procurement platform, SAP Ariba, in a move aimed at strengthening supply chain governance, improving transparency and reducing opportunities for irregular expenditure.

Deputy Executive Mayor and MMC for Finance, Councillor Eugene Modise, announced the rollout on Thursday alongside Executive Mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya, members of the Mayoral Committee and senior municipal officials. He described the initiative as another milestone in the City’s drive to modernise public administration and improve financial governance.

“Every rand entrusted to the municipality is managed responsibly, transparently and in the best interests of our residents,” Modise said.

Modise said Tshwane’s procurement system had long relied on manual, paper-based processes and fragmented approval mechanisms that contributed to delays, inefficiencies and, in some instances, abuse.
