Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev believes AI agents will soon be capable of trading at the same level as humans. Speaking to CNBC, he said the future of agentic AI is one where software can perform every task a human trader can, giving everyday investors access to advanced trading technology that has historically been reserved for institutional firms.

The company launched AI tools in May that enable agents to trade stocks and make purchases for users.

Tenev noted that much of institutional trading is already automated and AI-driven, but said Robinhood’s goal is to democratize those capabilities by putting sophisticated computational tools into the hands of retail investors.

Robinhood is also expanding its business, announcing crypto trading in the US as part of its European growth strategy.

Earlier this year, the company reported weaker-than-expected first-quarter earnings amid crypto-related market volatility, later partnered with the US Treasury and BNY Mellon on Trump Accounts, and cut 10% of its workforce to improve operational efficiency.
