The Slovenian deputy has 'damaged the image of the EPP and undermined trust,' say his party colleagues
The European People’s Party (EPP) is preparing to expel Slovenian MEP Branko Grims after he repeatedly defied the group’s political line.
The EPP leadership is expected to decide on Grims’ expulsion later today, with Slovenian outlet N1 first reporting the move.
The parliamentary group is due to vote on the decision Wednesday next week during the last Strasbourg plenary before the summer break.
The leadership accuses Grims of a “lack of commitment towards the group’s objectives and political priorities, which was shown by repeated cooperation with the far right to the detriment of the group line”, according to a draft decision seen by Euractiv.
