One man in Europe’s centre-right camp is determined to pull down the firewall.
Branko Grims, an MEP who represents Slovenia in the European People’s Party (EPP), called for all four right-wing groups in the European Parliament to form a coalition, following the example of a recent bill on deportations carried by a centre-to-far-right majority.
“If the right-wing parties don’t cooperate and don’t cooperate permanently, I do believe that Europe won’t exist anymore and that will happen very soon,” Grims said at an event last Tuesday, as reported in Euractiv’s Rapporteur newsletter.
