Citizens’ collective #ReclaimConstitution has launched Constitution Corner, a new initiative that aims to foster a vibrant reading culture centred around the Constitution, and the ideas that shape our society.Constitution Corner is a collaborative initiative with bookstores, creating dedicated spaces where readers can discover, discuss, and engage with books on constitutional values, democracy, history, politics, rights, and public life. By bringing these conversations into bookstores, #ReclaimConstitution hopes to make the Constitution simpler, accessible and engaging for people from all walks of life.The first Constitution Corner has been established in collaboration with Turning Pages book store at Jakkur in Bengaluru. The space features a curated bookshelf with titles that encourage readers to explore the Constitution beyond legal texts and academic discourse. It is available to readers at all times.A key feature of the initiative is a monthly book discussion, where readers will come together to exchange ideas and learn from one another.“Reading is not merely about acquiring information. It is about developing the ability to think critically, engage with diverse perspectives, and participate meaningfully in public life. Constitution Corner seeks to revive these habits by connecting books with conversation,” according to the #ReclaimConstitution team.The inaugural book discussion will be held onJuly 11 at 3 p.m. at Turning Pages, Jakkur.“We all know India has a Constitution, but most of us may have never really understood where it came from, the incredible story behind it, or what it means for our daily lives. This series is about changing that, one conversation at a time,” according to the Turning Pages team.#ReclaimConstitution plans to partner with bookstores across India to establish more Constitution Corners, creating a growing network of community spaces where books become the starting point for informed citizenship, and constitutional engagement.
