A food critic, who has tasted dishes from various restaurants and cafes across the UK, says one venue hidden in a forest "in the middle of nowhere" serves Britain's best breakfast10:24, 02 Jul 2026A food-reviewing YouTuber who has travelled the length and breadth of the UK sampling dishes has declared a venue in Telford to be among the finest breakfast spots in the country.Gary Hanna, who boasts 493,000 subscribers on YouTube, regularly visits and reviews eateries across the UK for his popular channel.One such visit took him to Embers, located just outside Shrewsbury in a woodland setting. After experiencing three breakfasts there, where chefs prepare everything over open burning wood, his verdict was overwhelmingly positive.Embers was originally founded in 2017 by Adam, who also ran his own YouTube channel under the name 'Shropshire Lad', where he began posting videos showcasing his love of cooking.A statement on the Embers website reads: "What started out as simply sharing his passion for cooking with fire, quality local ingredients, and of course Shropshire and its incredible food scene, has become his fulltime profession since making the tough decision to finish his career as a Youth and Community Worker back in February 2022"Adam subsequently went on to win Heston Blumenthal's 'Crazy Delicious' Netflix show, and later appeared as a critic on MasterChef: The Professionals.Wrapping up his review, Gary, who forked out a total of £55.50 for the Fisherman's Friend, Big Breakfast, Pork Hash and three cups of tea, said: "Guys I can't recommend this enough. I really can't recommend it enough."As I say, independently owned, it's in the middle of nowhere. I tell you what, on a beautiful summer's day....If you're ever in the area come down. See what I'm talking about. Come in and see what I'm talking about."This is easy a 10 out of 10 for me and I'm giving it a 10 star. It's there as one of the best breakfasts... best breakfast I've ever had. And you can't knock the size of the tea either, happy days."In the caption accompanying the clip, he wrote: "I'm in Ironbridge today just outside of Shrewsbury and I've headed to Embers which in my opinion is serving up the best breakfast in the whole of the country... wait for this. Wow!".One TripAdvisor reviewer named Rob shared his experience, writing: "Taken my wife down for a belated birthday and secretly met friends who had never been before to Embers."Straight away they were all shocked how relaxing, how fantastic the bar staff were let alone the smell off fantastic smoked meats ready to smash your taste buds."He went on to say: "From myself and wife, friends please if you've never been try this place out you won't be disappointed.
