The objective of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-G RAM G) is to eliminate poverty, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Rural Development, said on Thursday.Speaking after the formal national launch of the scheme, which came into force on July 1, at Railway Koduru in Andhra Pradesh, Chouhan said that the development of villages is essential for the country’s overall development.Referring to the efforts of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chouhan said the Centre was ready to support the State government’s initiatives to transform the Rayalaseema region into a horticulture hub.Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the Center would give ₹7,700 crore to the State under VB-G RAM G. “Including ₹4,000 to be added by the State Government, total spending on the programme will be ₹11,700 crore,” he said. The villages could undertake a diverse range of development works under the programme, including preservation of soil, construction of roads and drainages, he added. Published on July 2, 2026
