How two brothers created an online comedy hit with relatable content.
Two Pretoria brothers were in for a surprise when a comedy skit filmed for fun turned their Afrikaans comedy channel into an online sensation.
Dylan and Armand Pretorius' breakthrough came when they posted a video about the first day of school earlier this year. "It just feels so surreal," said Dylan of their social media page Hou My Dop.
At first, they had 200 followers and hoped to reach 1,000 by year's end. Instead, they gained over 2,000 overnight, surprising them.
A video featuring a brother as an over-eager parent and the other as a schoolchild went viral with 450,000 views, showing what viewers wanted to see.
