A dark cloud hangs over the country as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. prepares for his 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Two teenagers shot and killed three students in Tacloban City on June 22, with authorities exploring the possibility of online influences having a hand in the tragedy.
In the President’s previous years and SONAs, the top priority had been to improve the country’s lagging and expensive internet connectivity, digitalize government processes, and empower citizens, including students, with technology.
“The schools will serve as the preeminent incubators of the innovative and creative energies of all Filipinos,” Marcos said in his 2024 SONA.
