A year ago, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stood before a joint session of Congress and called out those involved in flood control corruption, saying, “Mahiya naman kayo (Have some shame)!”

In a long State of the Nation Address, that was what stood out. And this is what many who watch or read or listen to the SONA this year will expect: Real progress in the campaign against flood control corruption. Is there any?

We want to take a broader view of Marcos’ fifth SONA and our expectations by, well, going outside so-called Imperial Manila.
