Athletics prospect Ryan Lasko, an outfielder for the club’s Double-A affiliate Midland RockHounds, is recovering from surgery and in stable condition after a frightening collision with a teammate Tuesday night in Frisco, Texas, the Athletics announced Wednesday.In the bottom of the third inning, Frisco RoughRiders outfielder Dylan Dreiling hit a ball to right-center field. Lasko and teammate Devin Taylor dove for the ball and collided. Taylor quickly rose to his feet to track down the ball and throw it into the infield, but Lasko remained on the ground motionless. RockHounds players and training staff hurried to tend to Lasko, and Taylor dropped to one knee near the warning track.

— Uprooted (@uprootedoakland) July 1, 2026Lasko was stretchered off the field and taken to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, where he underwent spinal decompression and stabilization surgery resulting from a C6-C7 vertebra fracture, the Athletics announced.Frisco defeated Midland 7-6 in the first game of a series that continues through Sunday. After the game, the two teams huddled in the infield with heads bowed in support of Lasko.
