The need to address climate change and crisis should be a shared responsibility, experts said at the inauguration of the fifth edition of Climate Action Month 2026 (CAM) organised by Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG) here on Wednesday.Tushar Shrihari Shinde, assistant mission director, Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission, said the impact of climate change first affects the vulnerable communities, including farmers.Experts noted that to deal with the climate crisis, it was not only necessary to have strong policy and institutional leadership, but it was crucial for governments, individuals, and communities to work together. J.P. Jaideep, head of the department of Economics, DG Vaishnav College, said tackling this issue should be a shared responsibility. S. Saroja, executive director of CAG said, this platform aimed to get many sections of the society such as policymakers, youth, communities, activists, and public together to have a dialogue and help in collective action to address issues like climate crisis. Akella Chaitanya Madhavudu, assistant mission director, Tamil Nadu Wetlands Mission also spoke at the event.CAM will be held throughout July and as part of it, there will be art performances, nature walks, workshops, expert talks, and panel discussions, according to a press release.
