Ukraine expects the support of all European Union member states for opening the negotiation clusters within its EU accession process, despite political differences with some partners.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said this during a joint press briefing with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, responding to a question about Ukraine's EU membership prospects amid strained relations with Hungary and Poland, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We expect unanimity among EU member states on opening the negotiation clusters. For our part, we have done everything that was required of us, despite the difficulties with Orbán. We have done it. I hope that Péter Magyar will support this. I also hope that the Polish government will support it. It is important to note that we all have rules – not just political emotions, but EU rules. We must do what we are required to do. For our part, we have fulfilled everything that was necessary and everything that was on the agenda for opening the clusters," Zelensky said.
The President noted that working toward the opening of the negotiation clusters during wartime had not been easy for Ukraine. At the same time, he stressed that Ukrainians are defending not only their own country but also other European nations.
