Ron Chenoy / Imagn ImagesJuly 1, 2026 12:30 pm EDT Updated Mats Zuccarello has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings for $1 million plus potential bonuses, said a league source who spoke on condition of anonymity on Wednesday because the deal has not been completed.Zuccarello, 38, said at the end of the season — his seventh with the Minnesota Wild — that he felt he had a couple of years left in him and preferred to remain in Minnesota. Zuccarello was coming off a two-year deal with a $4.125 million AAV. But with the Wild pursuing big fish such as Dylan Larkin in free agency, Zuccarello was allowed to test the open market.“I don’t even know how many years — if it’s 15 or 16 or whatever I’ve played — and I played seven of them here, and I would say hockey-wise this is probably my six best years in hockey in terms of how you feel playing-wise,” Zuccarello said at the end of the season. “That also comes a little bit with age. You’re getting more comfortable.”Zuccarello was a key cog in the top six and on the power play, as well as the right-hand man and good friend of superstar Kirill Kaprizov. Zuccarello had 118 goals and 389 points in 452 games with Minnesota.Jul 1, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern. Connect the termsFind the hidden link between sports terms
