Germany’s AfD is an affiliate of the pan-European grouping

The European Parliament is poised to vote on an investigation into far-right pan-European Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN) in Strasbourg next week.

A majority of MEPs appear to be ready to back a request for the Authority for European Political Parties and European Political Foundations (APPF), the EU’s watchdog for European political parties, to open a verification procedure into ESN.

ESN is a relatively small right-wing European party compared with its counterparts. In the European Parliament, the related ESN Group is the political home of Germany’s Alternative für Deutschland (AfD).

In a letter from 22 May seen by Euractiv, almost 300 pages along, alerts the Brussels EU institutions to evidence casting doubt on whether Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN), the far-right European party family, complies with EU values.
