From basketball to golf, bowling to weightlifting, veterans of a certain age are in Tampa, Fla. this week showing off their competitive spirit, energy and athleticism as part of the National Veterans Golden Age Games. The annual multi-sport competition hosted by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is specifically for older veterans and runs through July 2. The National Veterans Golden Age Games are open to U.S. military veterans nationwide who are 55 or older, and enrolled in VA health care. This year's games include more than 1,000 veterans participating in the five-day event under the theme "Fitness for Life."
