Swedish fintech giant Klarna has won $1.97bn in antitrust damages in a lawsuit against Google.The-buy-now pay-later provider’s price comparison subsidiary PriceRunner alleged it lost revenue for Google’s preferential treatment of its own comparison shopping service over independents. Additionally, it claimed the practice drove up costs for consumers.The patent and market court in Stockolm ruled in Klarna’s favour and ordered Google to pay around ​$1.97 billion ⁠in antitrust damagesThis ruling supports a healthier, more competitive market for the way people compare products and services — and that is good for everyone who shops," says Klarna’s head of communications and policy Dan Greaves.Klarna acquired PriceRunner in 2022 to add product discovery, reviews and price comparison to its app.
