Basic parts used in chipmaking and data centres, such as power chips and capacitors that regulate electricity inside facilities, are rising in price amid the sustained surge in AI data centre construction, the South China Morning Post reported.

AI servers require three to 10 times the number of capacitors as conventional servers, due to the high power consumption of AI chips.

As a result, companies that manufacture electrical regulation components are fully booked, the Post report said, citing Liu Gaochang of Sinolink Securities.
