“A massive fire broke out at a multi-storey electronics showroom in Delhi's Janakpuri early Wednesday (July 1, 2026), gutting electronic items worth lakhs of rupees,” officials said.“No one was injured in the fire at the Vijay Sales showroom on the Uttam Nagar-Najafgarh Road that was reported at 4.15 a.m., prompting the deployment of 15 fire tenders,” a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officer said.Visuals from the scene showed thick black smoke billowing into the sky as flames rapidly engulfed the multi-storey building, which could be seen from a distance. “The fire also spread to an adjacent Bata showroom, prompting authorities to secure the area while firefighters worked to contain the flames,” police said.“Firefighters initially rushed three water tenders to the spot, but as the intensity of the blaze increased, additional fire engines were pressed into service, which brought the flames under control at around 6.30 a.m.,” the DFS officer said. Even after the flames were doused, firefighters were seen directing high-pressure water jets towards the upper storeys to extinguish pockets of fire and prevent the blaze from spreading further.“A cooling operation is under way at the spot,” the officer said. The fire engulfed electronic goods, furniture and items in the basement, ground floor and three upper floors of the building, spanning around 350 square yards.“While the exact extent of the damage is being assessed, the blaze is believed to have gutted electronic goods and other material worth lakhs of rupees,” the DFS officer said. “The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” he added.
