Bulgaria is launching a new phase in the management of its tourism sector, with the government and industry representatives beginning joint work on long-standing problems through a new reform framework. Speaking ahead of the inaugural meeting of the Council for Tourism Reforms at the Council of Ministers' Granite Hall, Tourism Minister Dr. Ilin Dimitrov said the goal is to replace years of fragmented decision-making with a model based on cooperation between institutions and businesses.
The forum brought together government officials, tourism organizations and business representatives to identify practical solutions for the industry's development. Among those attending were Deputy Prime Ministers Ivo Hristov and Alexander Pulev, alongside the tourism minister.
Dimitrov described the gathering as the largest meeting of the tourism sector since the establishment of the Ministry of Tourism. "Every organization represented in the National Tourism Council was invited. More than 200 organizations are part of it, and the choice of the Granite Hall, a symbol of Bulgarian statehood, is deliberate," he said.
According to the minister, the ministry intends to fundamentally change its relationship with the sector by developing policies together with industry representatives rather than imposing them from above. "We want to establish a completely new way of working together with the industry. One of our main tasks will be to create smaller working groups that solve problems with the sector's participation, not against it, as has happened in previous years," Dimitrov stated.
