It could be billed the Battle of the Fitness Freaks, considering Atkinson is arguably the fittest player on the planet — he recently broke All Black Beauden Barrett’s record for the universally used Bronco Test — while the freakishly fit Kriel recently graced the cover of Men’s Health magazine, displaying an eight-pack.
Atkinson has played just four times for England but in their last match, the high-scoring but narrow defeat to France in Paris, he impressed with his lively attacking skills.
The 24-year-old Gloucester centre is looking forward to his first encounter with the Springboks, at Ellis Park on Saturday.
