A dispute over the quality of a uniform lead to a labour court ruling in favour of fired cleaner.

The Labour Court heard the case of a cleaner dismissed by her employer, Falcon Cleaning, for wearing “cheap pants” provided as part of her uniform.

The woman, identified only as A Tobi, was sacked by Falcon Cleaning.

After an arbitration ruling in her favour, Falcon Cleaning sought to overturn the decision at the Gqeberha Labour Court.

Tobi was employed by the company as a cleaner from March 2020 until her dismissal in August the following year. During her employment, she rendered cleaning services at Williams Hunt, the company’s client.
