Motsumi Mathe, who was placed on precautionary suspension as Sedibeng District Municipality municipal manager last month, faces another suspension despite his ousting being declared constitutionally invalid by the Gauteng High Court, Johannesburg.
Motsumi Mathe, the municipal manager of the Sedibeng District Municipality, is facing another suspension after winning his bid to overturn his ousting last month.
The municipality tried to axe Mathe, but he successfully approached the Gauteng High Court, Johannesburg, to stop the move to oust him pending a disciplinary hearing.
“Yes, I reported for work on June 23, 2026. But the Sedibeng council convened a virtual special sitting and had the acting municipal manager present reports in their in-committee meeting.
“I informed the municipality through my lawyers that I will be reporting for work on June 23, 2026. This is acting in contempt of court, but not surprising at all,” Mathe said.
