A former SA Reserve Bank employee is set to lose millions of rand for his alleged role in the collapse of Steinhoff, which he later joined.
Former SA Reserve Bank (SARB) employee Christiaan Tielman Grové is set to lose almost R10 million in cash, vehicles, and properties after the central bank secured a forfeiture order obtained in his role alleged in the collapse of Steinhoff.
Grové, who turns 69 on July 15, lives in Paarl in the Western Cape and was declared by the SARB to have flouted Exchange Control Regulations.
"By virtue of the functions, powers and/or duties vested in me, in my capacity as a Deputy Governor of the SARB, in terms of the delegation and assignment of the functions, powers, and/or duties referred to in paragraph one above, I hereby give notice of a decision to forfeit to the state the following money and/or goods and I hereby declare and order forfeit to the State the following money and/or goods," Fundi Tshazibana, the deputy governor of the SARB'S Prudential Cluster said.
According to the central bank, an amount of nearly R1.1m being capital standing to Grové's credit in a fixed deposit account with account number held with Investec Bank, together with any interest thereon or any other accrual thereto.
