The former chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State and deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2027 general elections, Alphonsus Eba, has alleged a political witch-hunt following a demolition notice issued on his residence in Calabar by state government officials.
Government officials, acting under the Cross River State Planning and Development Control Taskforce, on Monday pasted a demolition notice on the gate of his residence located in the Water Board Estate, Calabar.
The notice, bearing the reference number CRS/PDCT/043, directed that all activities on the property should cease immediately.
Reacting on Tuesday during a telephone interview, Eba said the move was politically motivated, alleging that the administration of Governor Bassey Otu was behind plans to demolish his residence.
He said, “A particular agency owned by Governor Bassey Otu’s administration had earmarked my residence for demolition. It’s uncalled for. I know it is politically motivated, and I am undeterred.”
